The Israeli artist Ronit Porat (*1975 in Kibbutz Kfar Giadi, Northern Israel,
lives in Tel Aviv) deals with the question of how archives create history
and sometimes interweaves archive material with biographical texts.
For several weeks, the Israeli artist Ronit Porat immersed herself in the Graphics Collection of the Cologne City Museum and embarked upon an imaginary journey there. Her focus: Picture postcards from the years 1918 to 1938. Employing her collage-like, sometimes Dadaist photomontage method, she allowed new narratives to arise and historical boundaries to become visible.
