Four images in 28 seconds, photographs without one’s own camera, art from out of the photo booth: The exhibition “Instant History” is an ho-
mage by the artist Jan Wenzel to the analogue photo booth. Since the mid-90s, Wenzel has been creating his own visual worlds, imaginary spaces and serial still lifes by mounting the small passport picture strips from the photo booth into complex image tableaux. ‟Instant History” is a self-portrait of the machine and a reflection on the passing of time.
