In the work of Susanne M. Winterling, microorganisms such as dinoflagellate algae play a central role. Through microphotography, computer animation, and sculpture, they appear in multiple forms to undermine the anthropocentric view and, instead, to focus attention on the imbalance in the ecosystem. Winterling reflects the dynamic network of relationships between nature, bodies, knowledge, and politics, which require an open, ahierachic approach.
