Photographer's Night 2019 
"The Art of Documentary Photography"

 The Photographer's Night as the "Gala of Photography" has been a highlight of the Photoszene-Festival for more than twelve years. It was first conceived and organized by Manfred Linke (DGPh/Utopia Images) in 2006. In collaboration with various partners from the photography and art scene, he has invited internationally renowned photographers to Cologne in recent years, including photographer legends such as William Klein, Albert Watson, Gerd Ludwig, Herlinde Koelbl and Thomas Hoepker.

The 8th Gala is once again an opportunity to meet renowned national and international photographers. This year's Gala is entitled "The Art of Documentary Photography".

Guests are the photographers Ute and Werner Mahler from Berlin. They have already been honored with numerous prizes and their photographic works are represented in art collections in Germany and abroad. On this evening, they will talk about their working methods, provide insights into their photographic positions, and present current and selected projects. 

Originally Michael Wolf was also invited to the Photographer's Night.

We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Michael Wolf. Manfred Linke writes about it as organizer of the Photographer's Night:

"Michael was a great artist whom we will miss very much. After consultation with everyone involved, we will use Photographer's Njght 2019 to pay tribute to him and his work. At short notice we succeeded in winning Ingo Taubhorn, curator of the House of Photography in the Deichtorhallen Hamburg for more than 15 years. After Ute and Werner Mahler, he will talk about Michael Wolf and provide insights into Wolf's photographic positions, goals, and working methods."

The Museum Café will be open afterwards. At the 'get together', visitors can deepen their impressions of the evening in a personal conversation.

The "Photographer's Night - Gala of Photography" will take place on 10 May 2019 at 8 p.m. at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst (MAKK) in Cologne.
