What can the photo do, what can the painting do? And what emerges from the mix? Eva Rusch uses image cuttings from newspapers and painterly and graphically expands them into a new plane. The excerpts are digitally collaged, overpainted or overdrawn on the iPad, printed out and brought together as flags in an installation. Themes are harrowing events from local and global history, such as the collapse of the Cologne City Archive, 9/11, or similar catastrophes.
